Praise for: Larsmont Cottages
Weddings on Lake Superior hold a special tone all their own. While there are many beautiful and enchanting places to explore in the Northwoods, Lake Superior has a special draw of it’s own and it seems to attract a certain kind of down-to-earth fun-loving adventuresome sort of people. I’d like to dedicate this post to Christine and Chad- who happen to be just that perfect blend of fun-loving and down-to-earth. Chad is a firefighter and Christine moved to the middle of Wisconsin to be with Chad in beautiful little Chippewa Falls, WI. (Which also happens to be where my pup, Penny, came from!) Together they have four adorable kiddos, who are equally funny and energetic- sure to keep both C&C on their toes for the next oh… 12+ years! Their little family is beautiful, and I had a blast getting to hang out with everyone last weekend. The photographs featured here are from their wedding day, a sneak peek of the type of day all couples hope for. A gorgeous day that-minus one or two behind the scenes items- pretty much went off without even the slightest of glitches.
While I could write a book (idea?!?) about places to explore on the North and South shores of Lake Superior, I’d like to give some long-due props to just one of those great locales. If you’re looking for a blend of modern-day convenience mixed with just the right amount of wilderness for a weekend get-a-way, then Larsmont Cottages on old highway 61 is your place.
Larsmont offers a special blend of woodsy and lake-friendly activities while encouraging people to sit back and enjoy their present. Whether a s’more bon fire or a book by the lake calls you- there are ample opportunities for relaxing and soaking in some quiet time. Feel like exploring and working up a sweat? They’ve got your back there too. Grab a kayak or a bike and hit up the woods or the water. There are lots of off-shoot trails to explore up the shore and the Lake never disappoints. This is all backed up by full-service, award winning accommodations and delicious Northwoods focused cuisine in their gorgeous restaurant, the Ledge Rock Grille. Apricot Almond Encrusted Lake Trout, anyone? With a glass of Chardonnay, please- and thank you.
All of this said, there are many beautiful places along Lake Superior. MANY. As in, you could drive along highway 61 and just about anywhere you choose to pull over will offer it’s own unique set of attributes. What I love about Larsmont as a wedding location… The site: it’s gorgeous. There are ample photo-opportunities right there on-site, there’s no need to go anywhere else. Lake Superior Shoreline- check. Big rocks- check. Gorgeous trees- Check. Little groomed paths- Check. Wooden farm-like fences, tall grasses, wood piles, fire pits, pretty wild flowers- check, check, check! Larsmont’s size lends itself happily to small to medium-sized affairs, but provides everything you might hope for in a more upscale venue- top notch accommodations, great food, wonderful wine selection, and local craft brews. Your guests can stay on site in their gorgeous condos. Jennifer, their on-site event planner, is absolutely stellar to work with from the start of planning to the finish of your day. Her staff- specifically- is amazing. I am constantly blown away by the professionalism they offer. It’s an intimate venue, with great food, gorgeous views, and professional (read- experienced, know-what-to-do) service all wrapped into one pretty package.
Maybe I’m a bit partial because these are all things I enjoy, from the real people to the almost un-real place. With love to Christine and Chad- to your beautiful life together!
